What is a Coalition?

A coalition is a group of organizations and individuals working together for a common purpose. In the case of Heart of Illinois Safe from the Start, a coalition was formed to address the needs of children 0-5 and their families that have experienced some type of violence.

 

What are the responsibilities of coalition members?

To assist Heart of Illinois Safe from the Start with the following:

  • Each organization or individual must be committed to issues of children 0-5 with violence exposure.
  • Each organization or individual must be willing to coordinate with others in order to create solutions for this target population.
  • Each organization or individual must be committed to the belief that every other organization and individaul involved has something of value to add.
  • Each organization or individual must be committed to open communication.
  • Each organization or individual must be committed to raising awareness for coalition activities.
  • Each individual or organization will be expected to make referrals and promote the services of Heart of Illinois Safe from the Start.
